Schengen Visa Application Process to get easier

Schengen visa process will soon be digitized. As per a new proposal by the European Union Commission to the EU countries, this digitised process will require applicants to submit online visa applications through the online visa portal of the EU and will also replace the sticker visa meaning it will be an evisa. However so far it is only a proposal and it may come in action from year 2025.

Sri Lanka to issue long term visas for foreigners

Sri Lankan government recently announced The Golden Paradise Visa Program, under which foreigners will be allowed to live and work in the country for longer durations. The long term Sri Lanka visa will be valid for 10 years but you can apply for a 5 year visa if you are willing to buy an apartment in the country as per the guidelines set by the government.

Thailand will ease COVID restrictions from May 1

Tourism authority of Thailand recently announced visitors will no longer be required to be tested for COVID before or upon their arrival in the country. Fully vaccinated travellers will also be exempted from quarantine restrictions. These relaxed COVID norms will come into effect from May 1.

Testing no longer required to visit Singapore from July 1

As per the recent guidelines issued, all travellers between the age of 13 and 17 years, holding a Singapore pass must be fully vaccinated. For vaccinated travellers and non-fully vaccinated children of 12 years and below in age, pre departure COVID testing will no longer be mandatory.

COVID restrictions to be lifted in Greece from May 1

Greek National Tourism Organisation (GNTO) has declared to remove travelling restrictions that were set in place due to the global pandemic. In a recent announcement they stated that travellers will no longer be required to provide proof of vaccination incase of vaccinated travellers and no negative COVID test for unvaccinated travellers.

Switzerland fully opens for travellers from May 2

Switzerland’s State Secretariat of Migration (SEM) recently shared the good news that they will be lifting travel restrictions set up in place since March 2020. Currently the country allows visitor to enter the country with a valid recovery or vaccination certificate, but soon it won’t be required.

Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA) announced their latest venture – RAK Airventure that will be operating at the Manar Mall from April 30. Located just outside UAE’s most popular mall, this tethered hot air balloon will offer Birdseye view of the beautiful natural scenery of Ras Al Khaimah.

Goa issues Mask mandate

In order to avoid another wave of the dreaded Coronavirus, the Goa State Government has made it mandatory to wear masks in public places. The State that has been slowly recovering from the losses incurred due to lack of tourism because of the global travel ban in 2020 after the spread of Coronavirus.

Butterfly Fest in Uttarakhand starts in June

To promote nature based tourism, the state of Uttarakhand is planning to organise a “Titli Utsav” in the month of June. The festival will feature butterflies, moths, birds, nature and heritage walks, and butterfly photography. The fest starting from June 4 was planned after observing a rise in bird tourism in India.

3 New Toy Trains in Himachal Pradesh

After 118 years, Indian Railways will deploy 3 New Toy Trains in Himachal Pradesh. Scheduled to be deployed by the end of this year, the trains will operate on the Kalka – Shimla route. The coaches of these trains will be equipped with emergency alarms, CCTV’s, announcement system, rotating chairs, WiFi and a destination indicator.

To promote Medical Tourism in India, Indian government launches Ayush Visa

As a part of the governments Heal in India campaign, the Indian government launched Ayush Visa initiative, to promote medical tourism in the country. The government also plans to launch Ayush Mark that will act as a proof of authenticity of locally manufactured Ayush Products.
