Based on a novel by Nicholas Sparks, the sloppy summer romance between Noah (Ryan Gosling) and Allie (Rachel McAdams) takes many sour turns. Their reunion after 7 years calls for confrontation. Amidst a heavy downpour, Allie asks Noah why he did not write to her for all these years and Noah replies, “I wrote to you everyday for a year. It wasn’t over. It still isn’t over,” and the two kiss passionately. The heavy rains here symbolize that the two protagonists were ready for a new beginning. This iconic rain scene also received the ‘MTV Best Kiss Award’ in 2005.
