In 1982, Austrian entrepreneur Dietrich Mateschitz discovered Krating Daeng, a drink made from sugar, caffeine, taurine, water, and B vitamins. The drink was initially created by ordinary Thai resident Chaleo Yoovidhya. The drink was intended to keep factory workers and truck drivers alert during long shifts.
