There is a new policy for international tourists, the Bali Tourist Tax 2024. The Indonesia Tourism Board will be implementing a new initiative called Bali Levy or New Bali Tax for all foreigners entering Bali. It has been implemented to support the sustainability of Bali tourism, effective from February 14, 2024.

The Bali Tourist Tax 2024
Beginning 14th February, 2024, foreign visitors coming to Bali will have to pay IDR 150,000 (approx. INR 800 or $10) as Bali’s new tourism tax applicable to each person entering the country (including children).
How To Pay
A foreign tourist will have to pay this tax before arriving in Bali. The Love Bali website and application make it easier for visitors to pay this tax beforehand. The process is simple:
- Log in to the Love Bali website or application. Enter your personal information including passport number, name, email address and arrival date. Then put in the payment information.
- Complete the payment of Bali Tourism Tax, which is IDR 150,000 per person, according to the selected payment method.
- Once the payment is done, you will get a levy voucher and a QR code via email. On your arrival at the Bali Airport, the officer will scan this QR code to verify your tax payment.
The government has made provisions that allow visitors to pay in advance, online. You can also pay the tax on arrival at Bali airport but it is highly advisable to pay the Bali tourist tax online for a seamless experience.
Reason For This Tax?
The government’s goal is to maintain a balance between the integrity of Bali’s nature, culture and people. This new tourist tax in Bali will also be used to improve tourists’ services, security, and comfort by improving the overall infrastructure in Bali.
How Will The Bali Tourist Tax Be Used?
The proposed benefits of Bali’s new tourism tax will be for the development of Bali, protection and promotion of Bali as the best tourist destination, including customs and cultural traditions, maintaining Bali’s spiritual aura, local wisdom and overall natural beauty. The main purpose of this tax will include:
Preserving Bali’s Heritage:
This tax will be used to preserve Bali’s heritage including its customs, traditions, arts, and local wisdom and in general preservation of the entire Balinese culture.
Nurturing and Preserving Bali’s Nature
This tax levy will be the contribution of foreign tourists in not only preserving Bali’s natural environment and unique culture but also nurturing it further to make it even more beautiful.
Contributing to an Elevated Tourist Experience
With these taxes being used to nurture, preserve and provide better overall facilities, hence providing an elevated tourist experience with better quality of Bali’s tourism services and management. This way foreign tourists get to have a safe and enjoyable time.
This travel tax in Bali is only for those who are here for tourism purposes. You will be exempted from this tax if you are visiting Bali to conduct government business (diplomatic and official visa), golden and student visa holders, and official visa holders for business and other non-tourism purposes (those with a residence permit card).
This simple Bali Tourist Tax for foreign visitors is only going to help the Indonesia tourism board to provide better and improved facilities and hence attract more foreign business. Irrespective of these taxes, the island of Bali, a natural paradise, is attracting lakhs of tourists every year.
