Around the world with Bollywood

Engaging, Exciting, & Enchanting – Bollywood is all this and so much more! From providing us with latest dance  moves to shake a leg on, to catchy songs which we can’t stop humming, and giving latest fashion goals with the beautiful costumes to even helping us to come up with vacation ideas with the scenic shooting locations of Bollywood movies, Bollywood has been a constant source of inspiration for us. There are even times when we plan our holiday itinerary based on our favorite movie or some recently released blockbuster which was shot in a dreamy location. Let’s face it when Bunny from Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani said, “Main udna chahta hun, daudna chahta hun. Girna bhi chahta hun. Bas, rukna nahi chahta” we were all bitten by a travel bug which simply increased our wanderlust.

So to make you fly, run and fall – in love with the many beautiful places around the world we bring you a list of top places which we have admired on our screens through the many Bollywood movies.

We can’t talk about Bollywood and not mention the home and the birthplace of Bollywood! Bollywood movies have been shot at various shooting locations across the country. They have featured everything from small villages to modern cities, and grand monuments of past to the latest tourist attractions. We even have a Bollywood Park in Film City Mumbai, along with several film cities in Chennai, Noida and Hyderabad – the famous Ramoji Film City, which are equipped with many facilities and are the home to many of the shooting locations of Bollywood movies. For many travellers their Goa holiday itinerary feels incomplete without visiting the iconic Chapora Fort which was featured in “Dil Chahta Hai” and many Leh Ladakh tour packages include the famous Pangong Lake which has been re-christened as 3 Idiots Lake due to the movies’ finale being shot there. Europe was, is and will probably always be one of the most beautiful international shooting locations of Bollywood movies. Extensive grasslands, cities with beautiful and colossal architecture, public squares, gardens that give you a glimpse of paradise, beautiful countryside and so much more that Europe offers, which attracts every bigwig in the Bollywood. From featuring Paris in “An Evening in Paris” to mesmerising us all with Switzerland in “Chandni” and let’s not forget “Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayege” one of the most iconic Bollywood movies shot in London apart from “Jab Tak Hai Jaan” and “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham”, Bollywood has left its mark all over Europe. Even the iconic Lake Alpenrausch in Switzerland was been renamed to Chopra Lake in honour of Late Yash Chopra! If you go through our Europe tour packages you will come across many places like Prague, Spain, Belgium, Budapest, and Greece etc. which have featured in movies like “Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara”, “Tamasha”, “Rockstar” etc. If you are planning to visit all of these places and more without much fuss, then having a Schengen visa will prove to be a blessing in disguise for you.

The Pyramids and the Roman Ruins have been on the list of many filmmakers for selecting iconic shooting locations of Bollywood movies since a long time now. Songs like “Teri Ore” and “Jee Karda” from “Singh Is Kinng” which were extensively shot in Egypt is a proof of this. From movies like “Phantom” which showcased the often overlooked Lebanon to “Ek Tha Tiger” which tells the tales of star crossed lovers that was shot in Turkey and even “Baby” a spy-thriller shot in Abu Dhabi, Liwa and Turkey, Middle East is quickly becoming a hot-favourite location for shooting Bollywood movies. Filmmakers have done a great job to portray the Middle East as an exotic destination like in the movie “Happy New Year” which has aroused enough curiosity among travellers to apply for their Dubai visa and visit the place where the east meets the west and creates a unique vibe that all of us will surely enjoy.

The land down under is a different world, quite literally! Cosmopolitan cities, deserts, mountains, golden beaches, world famous coral reefs, huge open countryside and pretty much a big barren land amidst it all – Australia offers many exotic shooting locations for Bollywood movies. The first movie to be entirely shot in Australia, “Salaam Namaste” paved the way for many other movies to set up their locations in the Land of Kangaroos. One of the all-time favourite of the millennials “Dil Chahta Hai” took us on a tour around Sydney without even applying for Australia visa. It featured many well-known places throughout the city in famous songs like “Jaane Kyun” and “Tanhayee” which are still evergreen in our hearts. Other movies to feature Sydney along with Melbourne were “Chak De India”, “Bhaag Milkha Bhaag” and “Bachna Ae Haseeno” while “Shaadi Ke Side Effects” and “Major Saab” were shot in and around Queensland.
