The US News & World Report recently published a list of the World’s Most Powerful Countries in 2023. The assessment was conducted as a part of the ‘Best Countries’ study. It involved surveying 17,000 individuals and their opinions on 87 diverse countries.

According to the US News & World Report, ‘The Power subranking is based on an equally weighted average of scores from six country attributes that relate to a country’s power: a leader, economically influential, has strong exports, politically influential, strong international alliances and strong military.’

Here are the World’s Most Powerful Countries 2023:

Topping the list of the most powerful countries in the world in 2023 is the United States of America. The American media company has called the US the ‘global dominant force’ by continuing to keep the country on the pole position in its power ranking. The country is topping several charts being, ‘world’s largest economy in terms of GDP’ ($25.5 trillion), ‘world’s “most technologically powerful” country’, ‘world’s top producer of both oil and natural gas’, ‘world’ largest media industry with global influence’, home to world’s top universities, etc. However, the US still struggles with issues like polarised politics, firearm deaths, racial tensions, and income inequality.

However, it is also known for key industries like oil and natural gas production, agriculture, fishing, and manufacturing, weapons export, as well as, contributions to culture and science. Like other top powers, Russia also holds membership in international organisations like G20, WTO and United Nations Security Council.
