1. A New High-Speed Bullet Train will connect Delhi to Patna in a mere 3 hours.

Indian Railways has proposed to introduce India’s second Bullet Train Route in between Bihar’s capital city Patna and India’s capital Delhi. The new Patna – Delhi Bullet Train is expected to cut down the commute time between the two cities to just 3 hours. The authorities have already decided on the construction route. Land acquisition and construction to start post-August. 

2. Doubled E-gate capacity significantly reduces wait time at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA)

Now CSMIA can handle as many as 7,440 passengers and 2,160 passengers in Terminal 2 and Terminal 1 respectively. With this move, the CSMIA can boast of having the highest number of such gates in India. 

3. Research by WTTC reveals Türkiye’s Travel & Tourism Sector reached record-breaking new heights last year

As per research by the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), 2024, last year, Türkiye’s Travel & Tourism Sector broke several records to reach milestones across 4 key metrics

  • Contributed TRY 3.11 TN to the economy, 12% of their total GDP in 2023.
  • Supported more than 3.2 MN jobs, 18% more than 2019.
  • Record-breaking international and domestic visitor spending, reaching TRY 1.68TN and TRY 761.3BN respectively.
  • In 2024, the sector is forecasted to break records, contributing to almost 12.5% of Turkey’s economy.

4. From August 18 onwards, Air India will operate Direct Flights between Bengaluru and London Gatwick

India’s flag carrier, Air India recently announced that starting August 18, 2024, there will be a new direct flight serving on the route from Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport to the Gatwick International Airport in London. The increased frequency of five flights per week will strengthen Air India’s presence in the crucial UK market. The Boeing 787 Dreamliner will be deployed on the route and the flights will operate on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday.

With the onset of pre-monsoon showers in the coastal state of Goa, its beaches have been abandoned by tourists and locals. On Friday, the IMD issued an ‘orange alert’ for Goa, forecasting heavy rains for the next week. Activities like swimming and fishing have been prohibited with personnel patrolling on the beaches. Aarhus achieved perfect scores in sectors like environmental sustainability, citizen participation in government and ease of getting around.
