1. Cheetah Safari coming soon to Kuno National Park
As per the reports, Madhya Pradesh is planning to introduce Cheetah Safari at Kuno National Park. This initiative aims to attract wildlife enthusiasts and adventure seekers, by offering them a unique opportunity to witness these big cats in their natural habitat while on their holiday in Madhya Pradesh. The officials plan to promote Kuno National Park as a prime Eco-tourism destination, fostering conservation efforts while boosting the local economy.
2. Thailand Visa Rules for Indians and Chinese Citizens likely to be eased
Thailand’s Prime Minister, Srettha Thavisin, aims to boost tourism revenue to nearly $100 billion next year. This involves simplifying the Thailand visa process for Indian and Chinese travellers and extending the duration of stays for tourists from all countries. Since the Thailand visa validity for Indians will be increasing, you can plan longer holidays in Thailand.
3. Puducherry to be added to the UNESCO World Heritage Cities List
After Delhi and Shantiniketan, soon Puducherry will be on the tentative list of UNESCO World Heritage Cities. So far only 2 Indian cities – Ahmedabad and Jaipur, have won the UNESCO World Heritage City tag. As per the reports, the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) has prepared a proposal to include Puducherry in the UNESCO list. The INTACH aims to highlight Puducherry’s rich heritage and cultural significance to earn UNESCO’s recognition.
4. New Abu Dhabi Airport Terminal to be operational in November
Soon your flights to Abu Dhabi will have a new base to land. After a delay of 6 years, the Abu Dhabi International Airport is all set to begin operations from its new terminal in November. Featured in the latest “Mission: Impossible” movie, the terminal is called Midfield Terminal and is expected to accommodate up to 45 million passengers per year.
5. No more pre-entry COVID-19 Requirements for Inbound Travellers to China
The Chinese authorities announced to scrap the mandatory requirement of COVID-19 test results from inbound passengers from August 30, 2023. This decision was taken to boost China’s tourism industry and economy, along with streamlining the entry process for travellers.
6. Rajasthan’s Dholpur-Karauli to get India’s 54th Tiger Reserve
The Karauli and Dholpur districts of Rajasthan recently received approval for a Tiger Reserve for wildlife preservation efforts. The Dholpur-Karauli Tiger Reserve will be India’s 54th and Rajasthan’s 5th Tiger Reserve. 7. Soon Travel from Delhi to Jammu in just 6 hours
The Indian Government is expediting the construction of the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway to ensure a quick road trip from Delhi to Katra in Jammu. Once operational, the expressway will reduce the distance between the 2 cities from 727 km to just 588 km and successfully reduce the travel time from 10 hours to just 6 hours.
8. ‘No kids allowed’ – Europe’s Corendon Airline to test ‘Adult only zones’ on its Flight
Do you dread sitting next to a cranky and crying baby on a long flight? Well fear not, Europe’s Corendon Airlines plans to test designated ‘Adult only zones’ where kids under 16 won’t be allowed. The test zone is intended for child-free travellers and business passengers looking for some solitude and will be implemented on a 10 hour long flight from Amsterdam to the Curacao in the Carribeans.
9. Several tourist-friendly amenities to come to Unakoti in Tripura
A nationally recognised monument and a must to visit on your trip to Tripura, Unakoti is set to receive essential tourist-friendly amenities like a cafeteria, restrooms, drinking water, and a parking facility. These upgrades are expected to attract more visitors, enhancing their overall experience. “Unakoti” in the local language means “one less than a crore,” signifying the site’s 99,99,999 carvings.
10. 75 new Destinations short-listed in Jammu and Kashmir to boost Religious Tourism
The Government of Jammu & Kashmir has identified 75 destinations to attract religious tourists and boost religious tourism in the sector. The Tourism Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir, emphasized the promotion of 75 offbeat destinations to celebrate local culture and another 75 to enhance religious tourism, will result in a promising future of Jammu and Kashmir’s tourism industry.
11. Odisha gets a new Airport – Utkela Airport
On August 31, 2023, Utkela Airport was inaugurated in Odisha. A small 9 seater plane flew in from Bhubaneshwar’s Biju Patnaik International Airport, marking its maiden flight operations. This is Odisha’s 5th airport and is expected to aid in creating an airlink in the state with great potential for growth and development.
12. Bangalore Airport postpones shifting all International Operations from T2
After conducting the final preparedness review, the authorities at Bangalore’s Kempegowda Airport have decided to postpone shifting all international operations from T2. The move of all international flights from T1 to T2 was supposed to take place on August 31, 2023. The new date for transition will be announced after the airport authorities have consulted with the regulatory authorities.
13. Airline Update:
- Around 1,000 flights to and from Delhi might be cancelled or rescheduled between September 8 and 10, 2023, due to G20 Summit – The Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) has received flight cancellation requests from airlines ahead of the G20 Summit. Airlines are rescheduling or cancelling approximately 1,000 flights mainly because of traffic restrictions during the G20 summit. Some airlines have been asked to reposition their aircraft at other airports.
- Air India shifts its operations to Bangalore Airport’s T2 from August 31, 2023 – India’s national carrier, Air India has shifted all international and domestic flight operations from Terminal 1 to the Terminal 2 of Kampegowda International Airport from August 31, 2023.
- IndiGo to start Delhi to Belagavi Flights from October 5, 2023 – Starting from October 5, 2023, IndiGo will be operating direct daily flights from Delhi to Belagavi in order to establish better connectivity between the north and the south India.
- Vistara will operate daily Direct Flights from Delhi to Male from October 1, 2023 – Vistara is all set to launch a new flight route from India to Maldives. From October 1, 2023, Vistara will be operating daily direct flights from Delhi to Male. Delhi will be the second city in India after Mumbai to be connected to Male.
- New Routes between India and New Zealand to be introduced after signing MoU for Civil Aviation Cooperation – India and New Zealand have signed a MoU to increase air connectivity. The agreement includes new air routes, codeshare services, traffic rights, and capacity entitlements. New Zealand’s selected airlines can operate unrestricted services to 6 Indian cities, like New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Kolkata, while Indian airlines get similar rights to top cities in New Zealand such as Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and 3 others.
