1. Saudi Tourism Authority Launches Promotional Packages with Akbar Travels
As per Saudi Arabia’s tourism strategy, India is expected to be Saudi’s largest tourism source market by 2030 due to its immense potential. So, in order to promote Saudi as the top leisure destination for Indian visitors, the Saudi Tourism Authority has leveraged its partnership with the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) and launched bespoke promotional Saudi Arabia tour packages with Akbar Travels.
2. More than 200 beaches in Greece to be made Wheelchair Accessible
In a bid to promote itself as an accessible sea tourism destination, Greece plans to install remote-operated ramps on around 287 beaches to make them wheelchair accessible. Under this program, other improvements such as accessible parking areas, portable sanitary stations, and removable changing rooms, etc. will also be installed at the beaches.
3. 17 Villages near Indo-China Border to be developed for Rural Tourism under the Vibrant Village Programme
In a bid to promote rural tourism, the Central Government of India plans to launch the Vibrant Village Programme. Under this initiative, 663 villages across the country will be developed into tourism sites in the first phase. Out of these 663 villages, 17 villages in Ladakh, Sikkim, Himachal Pradesh, and Arunachal Pradesh are located along the Indo-China border.
4. 300 New Unexplored Shooting Destinations in Jammu and Kashmir identified to promote Film Tourism
Around 300 unexplored film shooting locations in Jammu and Kashmir have been identified by the Jammu and Kashmir Government Officials to promote the union territories as prime destinations for the film industry. In addition to attracting production houses and filmmakers, the Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department also aims to attract serials, web series, and movies to the state.
5. Benital in Uttarakhand to host a month long Astro Camp
Exciting news for all the astrophiles out there! The month long Benital Astro Camp 2023, is scheduled to take place from May 19, 2023. 6. 4 sites in Maharashtra including Matheran to get Ropeway
If all goes well, you will soon be able to ride a ropeway during your Maharashtra holidays. This news was announced under the Centre’s National Ropeway Development Programme – Parvatmala, which is an ecologically sustainable alternative to building roads in hilly regions. Rajgad in Pune, Matheran and Mahad in Raigad, and Brahmagiri to Anjaneri in Nashik districts of Maharashtra will be getting a ropeway each.
7. Badrinath to offer better facilities to Pilgrims
According to the Special Executive Officer of the Uttarakhand Tourism Department, pilgrims in Badrinath will get better facilities soon. The better facilities will be provided as a part of the Badrinath Master Plan under which the Badrinath Dham is currently undergoing major reconstruction. Badrinath Dham is one of the Chardhams that devotees visit as a part of the Char Dham Yatra.
8. VietJet offering 1 Million Promotional Tickets to Indians priced from INR 5,555*
On May 11, 2023, VietJet launched its latest campaign “Vietjet pampers you, summer chill.” Under this campaign, Vietnam’s largest private airline has announced that they will offer Indians 1 million flight tickets with prices starting from INR 5,555*. The promotional offer ends on May 17, 2023, and flight tickets to Vietnam will be available on flights between August 10 and December 12. 9. Air India to Operate Non-stop Delhi-Amsterdam Flights from June 11, 2023
Starting from June 11, 2023, Air India will start operating direct non-stop flights between Delhi and Amsterdam. The route was announced to boost the connectivity and global expansion of the national carrier of India. In the past 4 months, Amsterdam is the 4th European destination to be connected to Delhi by Air India.
10. IndiGo announces Codeshare Connection to Edinburgh with Turkish Airlines
After signing a codeshare agreement with Turkish Airlines, IndiGo now has 33 destinations in Europe as a part of its network. These new connections will aid IndiGo by increasing international connectivity and providing travellers with easy access to Edinburgh in Scotland. Other countries included in the codeshare agreement are Greece, Bulgaria, the UK, France, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Ireland, Hungary, Denmark, Spain, Netherlands, Malta, Israel, Portugal, the Czech Republic, and Belgium.
11. Myanmar Airways International launches Direct Flights between Chennai and Yangon
Direct non-stop flights have been launched between Chennai and Yangon by Myanmar Airways International (MAI). After Delhi, Kolkata, and Gaya, Chennai is the latest city to be a part of the Myanmar Airways International network.
12. GoFirst to Resume Operations
If reports are to go by, GoFirst may resume operations within the next 2 weeks. As a result of bankruptcy protection granted by NCLT, the aircrafts and the airport parking slots owned by GoFirst will remain in operation, and lessors and vendors won’t be able to collect any outstanding debts.
