Coming To India? Here’s The Latest COVID-19 Guidelines For Travel To India

International travellers can enter India provided they adhere to the travel guidelines laid down by the Government of India. Below, we’ve compiled everything you need to know to visit India, including entry requirements and COVID-19 guidelines.

**Travellers from all countries excluding ‘at risk’ countries can enter India following the rules outlined below.**

Before Departure:
- All travellers must submit a Self-declaration form on the Air Suvidha Portal online before departure.
- Irrespective of vaccination or recovery status, all travellers are required to get tested and upload a negative RT-PCR COVID-19 test report. The test should have been taken 72 hours before departure. Also submit a declaration confirming authenticity of the report.
- At the time of boarding the flight, only asymptomatic travellers will be allowed to board after thermal screening.
- Download and install the Aarogya Setu app on mobile devices.
- Children below 5 years of age are exempted from both pre and post-arrival testing. However, if found symptomatic upon arrival or during home quarantine period, they shall be required to undergo testing and treated as per the standard protocol.
On Arrival:
- All travellers must present the duly filled Self-declaration form to the authorities.
- Thermal screening will be carried out by the health officials on random travellers. Travellers with COVID-19 symptoms during screening will be immediately isolated and taken to a medical facility for further checkup:
  - If tested positive, the traveller will be treated in a medical facility as per laid down standard protocol.
  - If tested negative, the traveller will have to self-monitor their health for 14 days post arrival. To be precise, they will be allowed to leave the airport but will have to self quarantine at home for 7 days. On the 8^th day of arrival in India, they shall undertake RT-PCR test and upload the test report on the Air Suvidha portal. If tested negative, travellers will further self-monitor their health for next 7 days. If tested positive, they will be treated as per standard protocol and their samples will be further sent for genomic testing at INSACOG laboratory network.

The Indian Government has identified few countries as Countries ‘at risk’ and travellers arriving from these countries would need to follow additional measures on arrival in India. As of January 28, 2022. the ‘at risk’ countries are Countries in Europe including The United Kingdom, South Africa, Brazil, Botswana, China, Ghana, Mauritius, New Zealand, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Hong Kong, Israel, Congo, Ethiopia, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Nigeria, Tunisia and Zambia. The list of countries gets updated regularly based on the prevalent epidemiological situation of COVID-19 in these countries including circulation of Variants of Concern.

On the 8^th day of arrival in India, they shall undertake another RT-PCR test and upload the test report on the Air Suvidha portal. If tested negative, travellers will further self-monitor their health for next 7 days. If tested positive, they will be treated as per standard protocol and their samples will be further sent for genomic testing at INSACOG laboratory network.
- Must pre-book the COVID-19 test online to facilitate timely testing.

International travellers arriving through sea ports / land ports will also have to undergo the same protocol as above, except that the online registration facility is not available for such travellers. They will have to submit the Self-Declaration Form to the concerned authorities of the Government of India upon arrival at the respective sea port / land port.
