Who doesn’t like travelling? And when its vacation time, people start making plans for their international trip long before they actually start with their vacation period. But they often forget one major part while planning their international trip, i.e. Visa. Everyone knows that you cannot plan your international trip without having a valid visa unless it is visa-free country. So, if you are planning to travel during a peak season, then you better hustle to get a visa.
At Akbar Travels, we get many queries from our customers on how to get a visa during peak season and we have seen people cancelling or postponing their trip to their dream destination just because they didn’t have enough time to process visa for the desired destination. Getting a visa during peak season can be difficult but definitely not impossible.
We have listed below some factors that can affect your visa application during peak season:
1. Endless number of visa applications at the Embassy/Consulate
Now, this is a very obvious point, during a peak season a Consulate or even a travel consultant receives a lot of visa applications. Majority of the Indians majorly plan to travel to the South East Asian countries, UK, the US or Schengen Area. Generally, a Consulate takes a processing time of 3 to 7 business days, but a visa in peak season takes somewhere between 20 to 45 business days, due to the chunk of visa application at the Consulate. As there are maximum 4 embassies all over India for almost all countries, which makes it time-consuming and difficult during peak season.
Mentioned below are the most preferred travel destination and the time required for processing the visa in peak season:
- Dubai Visa – 30 days prior to travel date
- Singapore Visa – 30 days prior to travel date
- Malaysia Visa – 30 days prior to travel date
- Thailand Visa – 30 days prior to travel date
- Sri Lanka Visa – 30 days prior to travel date
- UK Visa – 3 months prior to travel date
- USA Visa – 6 months prior to travel date
- Canada Visa – 6 months prior to travel date
- China Visa – 30 days prior to travel date
- Schengen Visa – 90 days prior to travel date
- Australia Visa – 3 months prior to travel date
So if the Consulate is not accepting the visa applications then how can they issue a visa? Such situation during a peak season is very common. As a traveler we assume that we will get our application done through a travel agent but in such a situation are out of any agents/consultants control.
So, in order to avoid the last minute hassle, it’s better to start your visa application process well in advance and increase your chances of getting a visa in peak season.
2. Heavy Rush at Travel Agents/Consultants
You might think that a Travel agent or a consultant will help you in obtaining a visa even if it is during peak season. No, that is not true. More than 90% of travelers get their visa processed through travel agents, resulting in a heavy rush at the travel companies. Agents cannot guarantee you a visa during a peak season, they might not be able to help you on an urgent basis due to the prior commitments on the visa application they have already accepted for processing.
In that case, be smart and start your visa process before the time for the upcoming peak season.

3. Non-availability of Appointment Date
There are few countries which require you to personally visit the Embassy/Consulate for biometrics or interview as a part of their visa process which includes – Schengen Countries, UK, USA. If a person starts the process well in advance the Consulate gets enough time to process a visa, after the appointment. But, due to the large number of visa application the appointment get booked faster and your application appointment date sometimes comes after your travel date, which causes a delay of visas and causing you heavy loss on your travel arrangements.
Get lucky with early US VIsa appointment dates!
4. Any mistake in Visa
Once you are issued a visa, there could be a mistake in your visa application such as filling the form incorrectly, providing wrong passport number, multiple spelling mistakes, incorrect information etc.
So one requires to be very careful while applying for a visa because in such situations, your visa application can get rejected and you will need to re-submit your application. It is recommended to apply well in advance so that you get atleast 10-15 working days after the visa processing before your travel date.
