Deep in the mountains of Central Vietnam, rise two stone hands holding aloft a ribbon of gold. Too dramatic? Not really. The Golden Bridge of Vietnam is the definition of drama. The stony, moss covered hands could well be those of Atlas holding up the golden footbridge buzzing with tourists on their Vietnam holiday.

Golden Bridge Vietnam
Cau Vang AKA The Golden Bridge

The Cau Vang, or Golden Bridge, is a 150-meter-long pedestrian bridge built atop the Ba Na Hills in Da Nang. Open to the public since June 2018, Golden Bridge was voted one of Time’s Greatest Places of 2018. It is made of steel, wire mesh and fibre glass and connects a cable car station to gardens nearby. Looping through the mountain tops, the bridge promises visitors spectacular views of the Ba Na Hills resort.

How to get to the Golden Bridge

The city nearest to the Golden Bridge is Da Nang in Central Vietnam. Visitors can hire taxis or board a shuttle bus to travel the 35km from Da Nang to the Ba Na Hills Resort. Take the cable car to the top of the resort where the bridge is located. The entry fee, including the cable car ride, is $30 or 700,000 dongs.

What to see in Vietnam (Besides the Golden Bridge)

Cau Vang or the Golden Bridge may be Vietnam’s newest and most instagrammable attraction, but the country has a lot more to offer. Here are a few of the best places to visit in Vietnam

Ha Long Bay

The Karsts of Ha Long Bay

Breathtakingly beautiful, Ha Long Bay is one of Vietnam’s biggest draws. An emerald bay dotted with limestone karsts, Ha Long Bay is an essential part of Vietnam tour packages.

Cu Chi Tunnels

A relic of the Vietnam War, the Cu Chi Tunnels are a network of bunkers and tunnels located under Ho Chi Minh City. Open to tourists, the tunnels let you experience life as a VietCong soldier. The complex also has a shooting range where you can try your hand at shooting machine guns.

Hoi An

Not much has changed in Hoi An since the 15th century. A historic port town, Hoi An is beautifully preserved and presents an eclectic mix of Vietnamese and colonial architecture.

Nha Trang

A beach in Nha Trang

One of the largest beach resorts in Vietnam, Nha Trang is the perfect place to soak up the sun. Explore the beaches of the city, venture out to sea for some scuba diving or drop by the stunning Long Son Pagoda.

As Asia’s hottest new attraction, the Golden Bridge has climbed to the top of my bucket lists. It’s time it made its way to yours.
